Colonoscopy? We'll take you there, stay with you and drive you home https://synergyhomecare.com/tx-dallas-75243/knowledge-center/2019/11/01/colonoscopy-well-take-you-there-stay-with-you-and-drive-you-home/ Fri, 01 Nov 2019 00:00:00 +0000 https://synergyhomecare.com/tx-north-dallas-75243/2019/11/01/colonoscopy-well-take-you-there-stay-with-you-and-drive-you-home/ No one likes or even wants to talk about colonoscopies. But we have to. As we age, we have to get that hated colonoscopy or have endoscopy more often than in the good old days when we used to stay on the dance floor until wee hours and get up early for work the next morning.

Besides the night before the colonoscopy, the worst part about it is finding someone who can drive you to the doctor, wait with/for you, and then drive you home. At SYNERGY HomeCare of North Dallas, we are hearing this more and more. And we have a solution for you to take some of the unpleasantness out of a colonoscopy or endoscopy. Our trained, background verified, bonded, insured and licensed caregivers are available to be your compassionate companion from start to finish when you are having such a procedure.

Hi Y’ all! I hope everybody is enjoying the onset of autumn and having a great time with friends and family. What is life without being surrounded by friends and family, without spending enough time with the loved one and without spending quality time with kids and grandparents? I see the time spent with young and elderly as a bridge between the past and the future, reflecting on past achievements and hoping for new horizons in the future.

We have been open for business for more than four months and I specifically want to tell you about the seniors and patients we have supported for their trips to and from colonoscopy and endoscopy. Most of the patients are not aware of the fact that for both endoscopy and colonoscopy, they need a caregiver or family member who must be with the patient before, during and after the procedure is completed. Hospitals make it mandatory that the patients have someone with them before start of procedure.  In both the procedures the patient is administered sedatives and it normally takes about one hour to two hours for the sedatives to wear off after the procedure is complete, during which the patient is monitored in the hospital. The complete procedure from checking in until the patient is ready to leave the facility will take anywhere between 4 to 6 hours. The effect of sedatives lingers until next day of the procedure and hence the patients cannot drive themselves back. Caregivers or family members should be available in the facility to drive them back to home.

We have helped quite a few patients with their visit to and from endoscopy and colonoscopy and it’s been a great help for both family members and patients. First it helps the family member who is working, not to lose any working hours and eliminating the stress of driving them to and from the facility. Our care trip service provides the patients with a comfortable, personalized service including complete attention from our caregiver, who is 100% dedicated to patient care, not distracted by work calls or constrained by time due to limited availability of the hours they can take off. Our caregivers help patients feel comfortable after the procedure and also help the patient get in the car safely, help them with their personal belongings and drive them safely back to home, during which the patients can recover and relax, while the family members can spend their time at work or stay at home preparing meals and picking up prescription medication needed for the patients.

Our caregivers are trained, background verified, bonded, insured and licensed. We constantly train our caregivers on the best practices. We are a non-medical home care company, providing in-home care, senior care, memory care, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, end of life care, recovery support. We are dedicated to providing utmost care and service to our patients and we firmly believe that our service will make a positive difference in their mental and physical health.

We can help you too. Just give us a call, schedule your appointment and let us care for you to, during and from your procedure.

Are your parents beginning to slip a little, mentally? https://synergyhomecare.com/tx-dallas-75243/knowledge-center/2019/07/12/are-your-parents-beginning-to-slip-a-little-mentally/ Fri, 12 Jul 2019 00:00:00 +0000 https://synergyhomecare.com/tx-north-dallas-75243/2019/07/12/are-your-parents-beginning-to-slip-a-little-mentally/ You may find yourself helping your aging loved one(s) with small tasks around the house. As time goes by, your loved one needs more help, more often. While you are happy to help, you find your aging parents or loved one's attention to daily living beginning to lessen and you are spending more and more time away from your own family. Maybe you've been noticing that they're wearing the same stained clothes over and over or need to bathe. It's hard to acknowledge and take in, but they are aging and so are you.

You may find yourself helping your aging loved one(s) with small tasks around the house. As time goes by, your loved one needs more help, more often. While you are happy to help, you find your aging parents or loved one’s attention to daily living beginning to lessen and you are spending more and more time away from your own family. Maybe you’ve been noticing that they’re wearing the same stained clothes over and over or need to bathe. It’s hard to acknowledge and take in, but they are aging and so are you.

Signs of slipping acuity in your aging parent(s) or loved one:

Personal care. When bathing, washing their hair or dressing is getting harder to do, a friendly and dependable in home caregiver could be the answer.

Household chores. Maybe your parent needs help with chores like light housekeeping, grocery shopping or laundry.

Meals. Worried that your aging parent might not be eating nutritious meals or is tired of eating alone? Have a caregiver visit our parents on a schedule and prepare meals for them.

Health care. Do your elderly parents forget to take their medicine? Or get the dosing wrong? If your loved one can’t remember what the doctor told them to do, have a SYNERGY caregiver go to your doctor visits with them. With a caregiver, they can write down the doctor’s instructions and share it with you.

Recognizing differences in an aging parents behavior when you live far away
Sometimes it’s hard to recognize differences in behavior when you don’t live close to your parents. Because you are not there, you have no idea whether they are withdrawing from activities, forgetting to take medication, or have stopped taking care of themselves or their home.

What about driving? Have they had any mishaps with the car lately? Are you concerned about them driving? When is the last time you accompanied them on a car ride?

What can you do if this is happening and you’re far away? If you were comfortable with it, you could check in occasionally with people who see your loved one(s) regularly—neighbors, friends, church members, doctors or local relatives—and ask them to call you with any concerns. You can even get a medical alert system that calls 911 should they fall or get in any type of an urgent situation.

There will be a day when you’ll need more than a few extra eyes looking out for their well-being. And being far away, you might need the peace of mind knowing that they have some extra help and care through an in home care agency like SYNERGY HomeCare of North Dallas. Many out of town adult children have caregivers visit their parent(s) every day or every other day to ensure their home is tidy, meals are prepared, they are bathing and dressing in clean clothing and medication is being taken properly. Once a rhythm and a trust have been established, the loved one looks forward to the company.

None of you have to travel this path in life alone.
