About SYNERGY HomeCare of Bradenton

SYNERGY HomeCare of Bradenton serves the residents of Bradenton and the surrounding areas.

The company provides a wide variety of non-medical care options, from companion care and personal care to specialized care for people with chronic health conditions or recovering from illness or surgery. SYNERGY of HomeCare of Bradenton also serves clients living with developmental, intellectual, physical, or behavioral challenges, while also providing child care, backup care, and assistance for expecting families. This expanded focus aligns with SYNERGY HomeCare’s differentiating approach in their “care for everyone.”

The company is owned and operated by Ken and Bernadette Gregson, who have a long history of serving and caring for others. Ken is an Air Force veteran and local pastor; Bernadette served as a full-time caregiver for the couple’s son Matthew, who has autism, until he moved to an adult living community and is on the Board of Directors of Joyful Friends Programs, a nonprofit they started to serve the special needs community.

The Gregsons needed help with Matthew as he was growing up, giving them their first real glimpse into the world of in-home care, which served to foster their commitment to the cause. “We know from first-hand experience how essential in-home services and respite care are for the whole family’s well-being,” says Ken.

They understand that every family’s needs differ and have developed their own spin on the Golden Rule. Instead of treating others the way you want to be treated, the Gregsons want to treat others the way they want to be treated. “Because you will want to be treated differently than I do.”

All their experiences have taught them that the quality of care directly depends on the quality of the caregiver. They are committed to becoming the employer of choice for caregivers, offering even part-time team members a great benefits package, enabling them to provide the best caregivers in the area.

Ken had spent eight years in the Air Force as a Life Support and Survival trainer. Since then, he was a key leader in Sales Operations, Learning & Performance at AutoNation, the nation’s largest automotive dealership company. While he was at AutoNation, he served on the Board of Directors of a large nonprofit that served the special needs community. He eventually became his own boss, opening his own consulting business. Most recently, Ken has continued his commitment to service by becoming the pastor at Central Christian Church, whose community also places heavy emphasis on assisting those with special needs. It was Ken’s experience here that eventually inspired the Gregsons to start a nonprofit organization specifically meant to serve children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, which was the gateway to the family’s discovery of SYNERGY.
Like Ken, Bernadette also has her own extensive background in providing service to others. In addition to caring for both of her children, Bernadette was also working in a full-time administrative role at AutoNation over the past 20 years. In her role as Service department Warranty Administrator, Bernadette learned the ins and outs of business administration which she will now put into practice while she manages the day-to-day operations of SYNERGY HomeCare of Bradenton. During her time at AutoNation, Bernadette joined Ken in his involvement with the Central Christian Church, where she organized programs and provided proper hospitality for the church-going special needs community. She also frequently volunteers at Joyful Friends Programs helping to take care of the children participating in their day camps.
Thanks to their time spent caring for Matthew and getting involved with charitable organizations, the Gregsons have fostered a passion for serving not only older adults and disabled residents of their community, but also the developmentally and intellectually challenged.

Our Managing Partner - Bernadette Gregson

Bernadette’s experience as a caregiver began with our son, Matthew, who grew up with profound autism. He required substantial support, and those experiences led Bernadette to a non-profit that served the special needs community. They not only helped Matthew, but Bernadette also became a volunteer. She has continued to volunteer and serve the special needs community for almost three decades. She currently teaches a Sunday School class for adults with developmental and intellectual differences. As Matthew was growing up, we needed respite care and became clients of a home care agency serving the special needs community. They were able to give us, as family caregivers, much-needed periodic breaks. Now, with SYNERGY HomeCare, we can do that for other families.

Bernadette also brings 30+ years of business and administrative expertise to our operations, including warranty and insurance claims processing, which serves our Long Term Care insurance clients extremely well. She processes all their claims for them, relieving them of that stress.
